Toyota Prius - The Saviour Of Our Planet And Our Wallets
The Toyota Prius. A vehicle that keeps comfort, budget and the environment as a priority before performance, perfect for the everyday person and environmentalists.
In the automotive industry, there is a Yin and a Yang. Yang represents power, control and pretentiousness, reflected in super and hyper cars. Yin represents peace, purity and healing which was clearly inspired to make the Toyota Prius. The Toyota Prius is one of the most reliable and sustainable vehicles available in the car market at the moment.

While performance isn't one of the Prius's main priorities, it still manages enough power to overtake slower cars on the highway. This is all thanks to its All Wheel Drive (AWD) Inline 4 cylinder 1.8 L Petrol engine with its Toyota hybrid system. The Prius's engine produces a very disappointing 96 Horsepower and with 142Nm of torque at 3600 rpm. This means that the Prius can achieve a 0-100km/hr time of 9.8 seconds. In comparison, the Tesla P100D takes 2.3 seconds and the Toyota Camry takes a respectable 5.8 seconds.

As stated earlier, the Prius main objective isn't to impress everyone with speed. It does so with it's fuel economy, which is able to run with 3.4 L per 100 Km's. Relative to other cars in the market, 3.4L is very efficient. This means that the Prius's range can extend all the way to 981.7 Km's. Carbon emissions are also at an all time low, coming in at 80g/Km. With this type of environmentally sustainable numbers, it is easy to see why the Toyota Prius is stereotyped to have drivers that are hippies or extreme environmentalists (the ones that hugs trees at a rain forests).
As a large sedan, practicality and comfort are done pretty well, boasting 502 Liters of space, which almost makes it a SUV level. The sedan also has 5 leather seats for comfort, dual zone climate control and a large ergonomic touchscreen control for navigation, entertainment and climate control. Comfort is also integrated through sound as the hybrid engine makes little to no noise. This is due to the small engine and the electric motors emitting low sounds, so the sound of the kids complaining about how you missed McDonald is amplified.

As for possible modifications on the Prius, it his NOT RECOMMENDED to place any performance modifications on the vehicle such as a turbo and a supercharger, coil overs, tunes or any performance exhausts, as this contradicts the very nature of a Prius and if you decide to mod your Prius, may god help us all as you will attract crowds of people getting their phones out and taking photos of your modded Prius possibly to make fun of you.

Made for the average family or as a go getter, the Prius is priced relatively cheaply with the base model of the car costing $40,570 brand new. The upgrade I-Drive Prius will however cost 48,000. For a vehicle that prioritises comfort, sustainability and reliability, the Prius is a pretty good option for non-car enthusiasts.
